What is acupuncture and what happens during the treatment?

During the treatment, fine needles will be carefully inserted into points on meridians which are lines that run along the body which increase circulation, decreases inflammation and pain. The points connect to the fascia which communicates with the nervous system ultimately working with your body to stimulate its own healing process.

In addition, infrared heat lamps may also be used to decrease pain, increase circulation, and provide comfort and warmth. After the needling, the patient is given time to rest for 25-30 minutes. Many patients find acupuncture so calming that they relax and rest during and after the treatment.

Does acupuncture hurt?

Acupuncture needles are solid and incredibly thin unlike those used during shots at the doctor’s office. Most of the time, you won’t feel the needle being inserted. We have a very gentle needling technique perfect for even the most sensitive patients. We also offer other options during treatment including press needles, ear seeds, cupping, and moxabustion.

What does Acupuncture help with?

Acupuncture can treat pain, stress, anxiety, digestive imbalances, acne, eczema, rosacea, skin imbalances, hormonal imbalances, insomnia, allergies, fertility, and so much more.

What do I need to know before treatment?

Remember to wear loose and comfortable clothes to your acupuncture treatment, preferably clothes that can comfortably roll up to the elbows and knees.

It is recommended that you eat a light meal half an hour to an hour before the treatment!

Can you receive acupuncture during pregnancy?

Yes! Acupuncture can help with many pregnancy symptoms such as morning sickness, insomnia, digestive issues, and low energy.

How many treatments do I need?

Usual treatment plans vary based on how often you come in for treatment, but generally, it looks like this:

Least Frequent/ Moderate Progress towards optimal results: 1x/week for 12 weeks
Frequent/Fast Progress: 2x/week for 6 weeks
Most Frequent/ Quickest Progress: 3x/week for 3 weeks

Wellness happens over time as we are working with your body to treat the root cause of imbalance.

What are the Phases of Care?

Phase One – The Beginning - Acute Care

The beginning of our health journey together consists of finding the imbalance that is present and providing relief from the ailments that are affecting your day to day life. Congratulations on taking the first step and reaching out for help; we do not take that likely and will provide the best care with respect to the time that you are committing. We find the imbalances present and discuss our treatment plan to provide relief from your health concerns.

Phase Two –The Middle- Corrective Care

With the main symptoms largely alleviated, we build on the progress we have made in the Acute Care phase and treat any secondary symptoms while still treating the root of the issue at hand. This is an important time to continue treatment as this determines the likelihood of the pain or health symptoms from relapsing. We are building the foundation of your wellness.

Phase Three – And Beyond- Maintenance and Prevention Care

We have now built our foundation and must maintain this balance in health! You will be coming in for a few times per year for preventative and maintenance treatments.
